Obama to Introduce Clinton as Part of Security Team
According to Peter Baker of The New York Times, the bitter feud between President-elect Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton will officially come to an end tomorrow when he formally announces his selection of her as his new secretary of state.
“Mrs. Clinton, once considered the Democratic frontrunner for president, is flying to Chicago to appear together with the man who beat her for the nomination, a person close to Mrs. Clinton said,” Baker writes. “The sight of them together, as she joins his administration, would have been thought unlikely just weeks ago, but Mr. Obama concluded she would strengthen his team.”
Clinton will be holding together a national security team that will be centrist in nature, a fact sure to please many conservatives and moderates and disappoint many of Obama’s liberal supporters. Current Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates will stay on in his post, and the President-elect is planning to tap Gen. James L. Jones, a former commandant of the Marine Corps, to be his national security advisor.
In addition to these people, Obama has also selected former Deputy Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. to be his attorney general and Governor Janet Napolitano of Arizona to be the new secretary for homeland security. The nomination for the post of ambassador to the United Nations, which will be given cabinet rank, will go to Susan E. Rice, a former assistant secretary of state who served as Obama’s foreign policy advisor during the 2008 presidential campaign.
If she does end up becoming the secretary of state, Clinton will have her hands full, what with the country being embroiled in two wars and a global fight against Islamic terrorism.

This is not a pout; but I thought, months ago, Rice would be SOS… Oh well
Ok, so who from AZ is going to run for Governor? I’m thinking it will not be McCain… ~k
I can’t wait for Rice to leave. I’m not a fan of Hillary personally, but I think she’ll make a decent Secy. of State.
So what do you think about all the fuss about the Constitution keeping her from being appointed, even though there are two precedents to the rules? Party before Country. Why would we want the best person on the job if it could be ‘our’ person on the job???
I’m sorry spinningfacts, i don’t understand your comments. Who is keeping Clinton from being appointed Secy. of State?
I saw it on the Fox News website, but can’t find it today. But the same thing is covered at this link:

I think the fact that I can no longer find it even at Fox shows that the people didn’t bite.
