Tensions in India-Pakistan Relations Grow in Wake of Terror Attacks
According to Robert F. Worth of the New York Times, relations between India and Pakistan, which were never warm to begin with, are beginning to deteriorate to alarming levels of hostility in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
“In a new sign of rising tensions between two nuclear-armed neighbors,” Worth writes, “Indian officials summoned Pakistan’s ambassador on Monday evening and told him that Pakistanis were responsible for the terrorist attacks here last week and that they must be punished.”
Members of India’s Foreign Ministry responded to rising anger in the country against both the government in New Delhi and Pakistan by releasing a public statement which suggested that the plotters of the attacks were “still at large” in Pakistan. The statement also expressed the Ministry’s expectation that “strong action would be taken” by the government in Islamabad against those who planned and committed these heinous crimes. Of the 10 people who appear to be responsible for the attacks, nine are dead and the tenth is in custody.
The statement went on to say in a not-too-subtle tone that Pakistan’s actions “needed to match the sentiments expressed by its leadership that it wishes to have a qualitatively new relationship with India.”
According to Worth, “It was not clear whether India had supplied Pakistan with any proof of its claims. Pakistani officials have said that they are not aware of any links to Pakistan-based militants, and that they would act swiftly if they found one.”
At least 173 people died in the attacks, and at least 293 have sustained minor-to-severe injuries.

Word on the press wire is that India is also claiming that they’ll use the Bush Doctrine if necessary.
Great. Another preemptive strike using bias over facts. This could get messy very quickly, and take focus away from our own diplomatic and militaristic goals in that region.
Looks like it’s “Mission Accomplished” for the terrorists.
We need to take every extremist of every religion and lock them up in a pen somewhere.
Pakistan’s version of the CIA has long been suspected of being fellow travelers with Al Qaeda. Pakistan needs, somehow, to clean house at home before inviting India to join it in the fight against terrorism.
The Bush Doctrine theory of Disastrous Fumblings in Foreign Policy is not something India should consider just yet.
BTW, this comment was also a test of some html.
Some more testing - delete if it irritates you.

Well, at least we can do bold and italics.
