Barack the Magic Negro

Published by politicalanimal at 5:15 pm under Politics Edit This

I have a hunch that last month’s elections wiped out what remained of the GOP’s collective intelligence.

No doubt, dear readers, you already know about the latest example of the Party of Lincoln’s brand of humor. But in case you don’t, let me fill you in.

Earlier this month, Chip Saltsman, a candidate for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, gave out “Christmas” CD’s to RNC members that contained a controversial song parody titled “Barack the Magic Negro.”

The parody, which was written by Rightwing political satirist Paul Shanklin in 2007, is sung to the tune of “Puff the Magic Dragon” and casts the president-elect as a “magical negro” whom white liberals vote for in order to assuage white guilt.

In the song, an Al Sharpton impersonator uses a megaphone while singing lines such as the ones below:

“Yeah, the guy from theL.A. paper

Said he makes guilty whites feel good

They’ll vote for him, and not for me

‘Cause he’s not from the hood.”

When longtime civil rights activist Rush Limbaugh came under criticism last year after playing the song on his radio show, he fired back, saying, “”If I were to think about Barack Obama being in any trouble — needing Secret Service — I would look to Clinton Inc. before I looked at me. Try that, drive-by media. Get that out there.”

Needless to say, Mr. Saltsman’s actions have ignited a storm of outrage. Even some Republicans have expressed anger at the song, including Newt Gingrich.

And just what does the guy have to say for himself? Here’s what the New York Times reports.

“Speaking to The Hill newspaper on Friday, Mr. Saltsman, a longtime Republican operative, described it as a ‘light-hearted’ gift that would be received in ‘good humor’ by members of the Republican National Committee.”

The conservative base of the GOP has clearly gone off the deep end. First they slam the moderates within their own party after the election, and then tell Reagan Democrats to go to hell during the auto bailout fight, and now this.

Enjoy your political exile, Republicans!

Any disenchanted Republicans who don’t want to side with people like this anymore and don’t have faith in the new democratic plans would be most encouraged to check out the libertarian party.

Libertarians enjoy things like… Low taxes (actual low taxes, like, disbanding the Federal Reserve private bankers who have a tax-monopoly on us all), small government that stays out of your life, states rights, really good pot that it is legalized both medically and in general, taking back the constitutional rights that have been chipped away over the years, and not going to war unless we have actual justification for being there.

Yeah, the wussy RINOs are all peeved at a parody song. They need to be even more like liberals, since McCain wasn’t liberal enough to out-liberal the Messiah, Obama the 1st, Most Merciful and Beneficent.

Yep, that’s the formula. Gee, we tried to act like Democrats and Democrats still didn’t vote for us! Then, because we acted like Democrats, a lot of our own party didn’t even vote for us. Why did we lose again?

    Gimme a break.
