Governor Blagojevich Impeached by Illinois House
Blagowulf, the mythical hero from the forests of Illinois, has just been dealt a potentially fatal blow by the evil monster Grendel.
In other words, Governor Rod got impeached today.
Susan Saulny and Liz Robbins have more on the story.
“The Illinois House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to impeach Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich on Friday morning on the grounds of abuse of power as the state’s chief executive. He is the first governor in Illinois’s history to be impeached, and his case now goes to the state Senate for trial.”
Well, Governor Rod has always wanted to be remembered by his constituents. Methinks his subjects will never forget him now.
“The House deliberated less than an hour and a half before voting 114 to 1 to oust the governor, just one day after a 21-member House investigative committee unanimously recommended impeachment. The only member to vote against impeachment was Milton Patterson, a Democrat from Chicago.”
Who is this Mr. Patterson guy? Was he Candidate No. 12 or something?
In defending his vote, Patterson said that “I have no firsthand knowledge of any of the evidence.
“I went by my own gut feeling, it’s as simple as that,” he added. “I read the report. If the government is going to indict him, let them go ahead and do that. That’s their job and I’m doing my job.”
Oh well, at least he didn’t stick up for the governor. Come to think of it, I don’t think anyone did.
According to Saulny and Robbins, the last governor to be impeached was Evan Mecham of Arizona. That was 20 years ago.
If Blago is truly guilty, then the sooner we get rid of him, the better. We have enough corrupt politicians to deal with in Washington.

oh please tell me this story isn’t over…
You gotta give it to blago, he isn’t going down easy. He’s only stringing this out to make democrats look bad right now. He knows he is screwed. I give it a week or two before he folds.
He must be a closet Republican.
probably, he is doing the dems no good by making an ass out of himself. Did you see his press confrence today? It was painful to watch lol
It was only painful if you don’t have a weird fascination with complete mental cases. And after 8 years of Bush, it was almost tame…
