Jindal: It’s OK for Conservatives to Want Obama to Fail
According to CNN, Louisiana governor and Right-wing rockstar Bobby Jindal told an audience of Republicans at a fundraiser Tuesday night that it’s ok for them to want President Obama to fail if they feel that his policies are putting the country in serious jeopardy.
Apparently the governor thinks the premise of the question – “Do you want the president to fail” – is the “latest gotcha game” that Democrats are using against members of the opposition party.
“Make no mistake: Anything other than an immediate and compliant, ‘Why no sir, I don’t want the president to fail,’ is treated as some sort of act of treason, civil disobedience or political obstructionism,” Jindal said to his listeners. “This is political correctness run amok.”
“Since conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said that he hoped that Obama would fail, Republicans have been pressed by Democrats and the media about Limbaugh’s comments.”
Jindal, who many consider to be a potential candidate for the 2012 president election, told his fellow Republicans he would “not be brow beaten on this, and I will not kowtow to their correctness.”
“My answer to the question is very simple: ‘Do you want the president to fail?’ It depends on what he is trying to do.”
Although the governor has avoided questions about a run in 2012, his appearance at Tuesday night’s fundraiser, which was attended by 1,200 people, is being looked upon by some as a move to test the political climate and lay some groundwork for a possible candidacy.
Jindal sucks huge donkeyballs. As a mildly conservative independent, I reluctantly voted for McCain last year (after gulping down several shots of whiskey), but there is no way in Hades I’m casting my ballot for this joker, especially if he’s on a ticket with Sarah Palin.

“sucks huge donkeyballs”? Is that on youtube? … While Im not sure why one would vote for McCain, at least McCain didn’t lie about our leaving Iraq, he straight up told us we would be there for a hundred years. .. but I think we will leave when they are out of oil.
Jindal is a joke. I find it laughable that he’s considered a “true” conservative. Ron Paul is a friggin true conservative. Chuck Baldwin is a true conservative.
Bobby Jindal is not a conservative. Neither is Boehner (who has sold out fiscal conservity his WHOLE career), or McCain, or Palin, or Eric Cantor. The GOP is loving criticizing all this spending but those S.O.B.’s spent like there was no tomo.
What if they had privatized social security, like they were talking about. Holy effing shit old people would be dying on the streets right now.
And this “protecting the constitution” and “questioning Obama’s actual birth site” - those guys wanted to abolish that rule so the Governator had a chance at running. Now they care about it so much? Care about the constitution? The very one you assisted in ripping to shreds earlier?
Something’s gotta change here. Why do those snobs get to be one of the two most “supposedly” relevant parties in America? They’re practically a joke…
Grr don’t even get me started on our democratic leaders in congress either…
“While Im not sure why one would vote for McCain”
Yeah, I’ve had a lot of people tell me that. I’m not sure why someone would vote for Obama, but to each his own.
As Oldfart has said (on his nicer days) I’m generally a mildly conservative independent, at least on domestic issues and my all time favorite president of the 20th Century is Dwight Eisenhower. But on foreign policy I’m a noninterventionist although i have a soft spot in my heart for the Realist School. I’m sick of both parties right now because they’re becoming too rigidly ideological and, as Guitarman says, corrupt and incompetent.
Guitarman, I like Ron Paul but he really is a dinosaur, and not jsut because of his age. The conservatism he represents died decades ago. His is the conservatism of Robert Taft, Russell Kirk, Garet Garrett and Howard Buffet. The “conservatives” of today are the spawns of William F. Buckley, Irving Kristol, and Ronald Reagan.
“I believe the current “corrupt” system is the best there is and I am working in my small way to make it better.”
How?
I think this one definitely deserves its own comic.

Yeah, Paul is a dinosaur… and being the socially liberal/fiscal conservative that I am I definitely don’t agree with him on everything. But he hits the nail on the head with economics - he predicted this latest economic crisis years ago.
Oldfart - as far as corruption in the government, I don’t really bother complaining about it. I try to focus on solutions (chasing government corruption is like a dog trying to catch his tail).
Animal - I can definitely work out a header for you. Lemme know when you get a title and whatnot, or just shoot me some details/guidelines/suggestions.
Harrison, yes, let’s look at the job Obama is doing. He’s trying something new since the same old shit is what got us into this nightmarish economy in the first place. It may not be perfect, but it’s something, and we have yet to see if it works. I see a whole lot of whining from republicans without offering any kind of solution. Oh right I forgot, the solution is to make the rich pay less taxes and hopefully everyone else can eat their crumbs while you sell out any quality jobs you can to other countries. Yeah, that’s been working out real well for us! Please give us more of that.

Jindal and Steele just end up giving Rush Limbaugh more credibility every time they open their mouths. It’s almost scary.
hey man i nominated you for blogger of the month. Good work on the blog! now its time to get recognized for it!
Animal,
I feel the same about Obama as I do about McCain I would never vote for either. I don’t think either one is going to be on the job for you and I but rather they each take a different spin on how to clean up the mess. Right now the Repuplicans lay in wait to attack the administrations recovery plans. But the mess is a bipartisan mess wich is why I don’t get why people still accept the lesser of evils vote. We are being royally conned. And neither party has been true to the interests of the american people. It is time to move the bar up not down.
Respect
All this talk about voting for Obama, hey the guy is in office. And lets keep it real, he’s only been in office for 70+ days. His presidency will be judged by his body of collective work, not just one issue. I believe in the sincerity of Obama and believe he is for the American people. I believe he has done a better job than most of the previous guys especially given the times we are in. The conservatives and the republicans are both without a real voice or leadership which for now appears to be a good thing. They are clearly split in their ideas and both are getting some press- bad press- but some press. I forget who said it but someone once said “there is no such thing as as bad press”. I am not sure I agree with that. Jindal is an idiot, and Steele is the fall guy- deservedly- for everything wrong with his party. No one can take the party seriously when they cant even govern themselves on small things.
